MOVIE NIGHT!

Monday evening we went to see Australia. It was a great movie (we all were sad, but it turned out to be a great movie). We also came across the Twilight movie poster (let's just say Kerry & Cortney are OBSESSED with the Twilight series & they have hooked Katie). I am reading them, but I don't think I could ever read the obsession stage they are at...therefore I just took the photos of them with Edward.

Cart Riding...

There are always carts around campus because people usually don't put them back at the store they took them from. We always take them from Varsity Towers and ride in them over to campus. Monday night we decided to take it all the way to the bus stop...I believe the pictures tell the whole story.

Drivng In New Zealand!

Our final day in New Zealand we conned dad into allowing us to drive the car for a little bit. I drove first, then Johnny. It was a good time. The weird part about it is, you're on the right side of the car, you drive on the left side of the road, but yet the brake is still on the left with the accelerator is on the right. It's pretty tricky. Johnny and I both got the blinker right (unlike dad with the windshield wipers!!!!!!!!) We did make fun of dad enough that we should remember what side the blinker is one though. It was a good time! We all made it back safe and sound :)

Whale Watching…The New Zealand Fur Seal & Dolphins

Our final full day in New Zealand was up for grabs and we decided to take a road trip up to (insert town name here). After wondering around town and figuring out what we actually needed to do to see the whales, we boarded a whale watching boat and headed out to sea. It was a little shocking to know how deep the water got once we weren’t over the continental shelf (up to 8,000meters)!!! Before we boarded the ship he informed us there was a “slight” seasickness warning. Let’s just say that slight was too much of an understatement. We all made it back alright but we didn’t feel the best. We also went to see the New Zealand Fur Seal & dolphins. I took so many pictures here so I couldn’t include them all. Hopefully these will show all the fun we had aboard the boat.

Arther's Pass

The following day we took a tour including a jet boat, 4x4 vehicle, and a train up into the mountains of New Zealand. To start off we drive up to Springfield New Zealand and took a jet boat ride through Waimakariri Canyon. It was already windy but the boat going 80km/h made it even windier. It was really fun…but we did get a little wet. Following this we took a 4x4 vehicle up into the mountains through farm land (lots of sheep & cattle) up to a cliff and looked over the area. It was so windy I felt like I could fall right off of the cliff. We then stopped at a little cafĂ© for lunch & headed up to Arthur’s Pass. Here we boarded the famous Trans Alpine Express

Kiwi Dinner

I know this sounds strange, & I was a little sceptical in the beginning as well. The travel agent suggested it & said everyone loved it. We had a lovely host family and it was almost like the Thanksgiving we skipped the week before. It was all the normal Thanksgiving food…turkey, mashed potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, New Zealand pumpkin, and cabbage. It was great! I wasn’t really sure at the beginning how it was going to go, but they were very nice people and we enjoyed our visit.

Around Christchurch...

After our thrilling experience of skydiving we toured the cathedral in the center of town. It was interesting to hear all the history around the church and how it was the actual center of town & it was planed that way. Our tour guide was quite interesting & he actually said “oh my god” in the church. Johnny picked up on that & found it to be funny. They had beautiful stained glass windows and the church was gorgeous.

SKYDIVING!

Johnny and I got our chance to sky dive the next morning of our trip. Because we already went through all the pre-dive information we went right up in the plane when we got there. The 30 minute plane ride was the worse part f it all. Johnny got in the plane first meaning I was jumping first. As we climbed in the plane I could see their altitude dials going up and I started to worry. I wasn’t terrified though until the door opened on the side of the plane. I didn’t even have time to think and we were out of the plane. The free fall was by far the best part of it all. It didn’t seem like 120mph (although they said that’s how fast we were going). It was awesome & I was so scared! I would do it again though…I don’t really know what would make someone want to jump out of a perfectly good plane, but we did it & it was AWESOME!

Oh, and we landed in a field of cows. For some reason, I thought that was hilarious!
